I started documenting that love via photography.
In a surprisingly, short period of time, my laptop contained hundreds of photos I wanted to share. I have always been a fan of interesting coasters and have collected quite a few from different cities I've visited. They are great conversation starters and memory generators.
With a great deal of support and encouragement, I decided to give it a go.
After months of research, trial and error; experimenting with different products, applications, methods I have come up with the technique I use today.
Each signed photograph is matched with a 4X4 color tile from Pratt & Larson; an amazing local company that hand glazes and cuts their own tiles. I then finish the tops with an industrial, high grade epoxy, with makes the finish look like glass. The bottoms of the coaster are finished with a full cork pad, to protect your furniture.
The techniques I use enable me to put out the best product I possibly can to make Portland Coasters. I stand behind my product and welcome feedback.
Every PDX coaster I make is done with love, passion and integrity, and a huge crush on my city and state.
I hope you enjoy owning them as much as I enjoy making them for you.
